Johnny- It has been several years and shows too numerous to recall. Many of us have made close friends and in some cases, even met our life partners through your shows. You have made an impact on each of us musically and personally - for that you have our eternal gratitude. I know I speak for all when I offer sincere congratulations on your news. New legions of fans are sure to be consumed (as we still are) when Cara, Mia echoes in their ears. Our loss is certainly their gain. I am very fortunate to call you friend. You will be missed. Rock on. Dion

Congratulations Johnny!! We knew the night we saw you at Lamplighters performing for "Jay and the Americans" that it was just a matter of time before you got that call to join them! Good luck with one of the best bands of the 60's - and please try to get back home as often as possible, I'm sure all your fans as well as many, many new ones will be thrilled to see JAY AND THE AMERICANS! Best of luck and continued success to the rest of the band, the METEORS, Tony, Billy, Greg and Ron- great, great, musicians!

I have such mixed emotions about Johnny becoming Jay - I am very happy for him! Good luck Johnny on this new chapter in your life - I am sad for all the good times over the years that will now be memories of the great times with Johnny Star and the Meteors - no matter who was in the band when, you guys always put on the best shows in town - We'll miss you...I sure hope someone picks up the mantle to put together another great band that plays real rock and roll - see you guys in Iowa for sure...I would not miss it for the world!!

I agree with everything Joe Smith says about Bruce Baker. (As usual, YOU'RE what's happening, Joe.) Bruce joined the Meteors a few months after me in 1991 and during the two years following I was privileged to take my keyboard cues from his bass lines. I'll always remember Bruce's big white standup bass on stage at Oinkers, playing with him behind home plate at Wrigley Field (as caught in the movie Rookie of the Year), his introducing me to the cruise ship opportunities that became part of my life, and triple dating with Bruce, his wife Audrey, Jim Martin and our respective ladies. Most treasured by me was Bruce's ever-ready smile and good humor. May the rest of us, no matter where we are now, continue that good humor and keep our memories of Bruce alive. The heckuva band in Rock and Roll Heaven just added another bass player. From DC, my best to all in the wonderful Meteors family, always, Bobby C.

Johnny, I was a regular at the VIP Lounge in Mt. Prospect in the '70's (both as a customer and due to visits in my capacity as an MP cop!)and I also arranged to have you guys play at the MSRA dinner dance a couple times in the late '70's-early '80's. I saw you a few more times over the but I kinda got busy with life but recently stumbled across you guys playing last summer at a festival. I heard your voice and without yet seeing you I told my wife "that's Johnny Star" and sure enough it was you. You guys sound great, better than ever. I'm going to make a point out of coming to see you guys often. Thanks for keeping the music alive.

I'm very sorry to hear about Bruce Baker's death. He was a one-of-a-kind guy that made every show more fun by being a part of it.I very much enjoyed working with him while we were the band together. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends in thier time of sadness.

Hi Johnny, Met you at the Surf last week. You spoke to me and my buddy in the cafe, and told us about your band - which were due to perform the next night.
I have to say that everything you told us was dead right. You guys do all the artists, and so very well - and just like the originals.
The set was fabulous, and we all enjoyed it a lot.
Thanks for being there, we appreciate it very much.
Hope you can do it again next year, and that we can make it out there. May get to Chicago later in the year, and maybe you will have a gig on we can go to.
 Best wishes, from England,

It is hard to believe we heard you for the first time tonight. We are from Chicago looking for something to do and we thought we would check out the suburban festivals. We were sure lucky to come across Barrington and your group. There are alot of groups that try to perform the 50's and 60's but you guys nail it over and over. We are already getting a group together for next week and heading to Lincolnwood. Awesome job, thanks for a great night of entertainment. We would love it if you could fit Cara Mia into the set at Lincolnwood.

Being in the entertainment industry for over 35 years I realize the hard work that goes into such shows. Congratulations on helping us all keeping the GREATS of R'n'R alive. The first time I saw Johnny Star and the Meteors was in the early summer of 1978 at the Northwest Builders Hall, in Chicago. When the band walked in, I stopped in my tracks: They looked just like The Beatles, with those Edwardian suits. And when they played their first song, "Kansas City," I was hooked. My siblings, friends, and I spent many Friday and Saturday evenings following "Johnny" around the Chicago area from 1978 through the early 80's. Our favorite places to dance were the VIP lounge and a place on Lincoln Avenue whose name I can't remember anymore. It's hard to get a night out now that all of us have young children, but we have great memories of many fun nights with Johnny Star and the Meteors. Just wanted to say hello, from Janet, Diane, Rick, and "cousin" Tracy.
